Las Vegas September 28 - October 3, 2017 Thursday, September 28, 2017 - MSN Gate 3 - Looking out the window of the Frontier Airbus A320, Flight #1993 from Seat 23 F northward with a view of the Control Tower. This is the 2nd time I flew Frontier. My last Vegas trip was a direct Milwaukee to Vegas flight. Frontier began the direct Las Vegas flights from Madison at the end of last August. Take-off and Climbout looking west over Sherman Ave. Old Oscar Mayer Plant and Maple Bluff on Lake Mendota. After 100 years in Madison Oscar Mayer stopped production on June 28, 2017, affecting over 1,300 employee. The plant at its peak had 4,000 employees. Frontier 1993 Climbout on a westerly heading over the Madison Isthmus with a view of the State Capitol Building.
At the bottom of the picture is the Dane County Courthouse and Frank Lloyd Wright's inspired Monona Terrace Convention Center
on Lake Monona. Lake Mendota, with the UW Memorial Terrace coming into view. At the lake front far-Left you can see the Red Gym. A good of Madison's famous "State Street" from the Capitol, almost but not quite, including the Library Mall. Library Mall, UW Memorial Terrace - Wisconsin Historial Society, etc. Far picture right view of the end of Park Street at Lake Mendota (picture right). A good view of Observatory Drive on Lake Mendota. Observatory Drive, Picnic Point and the University of Wisconsin Lake Mendota frontage Housing Units. Around thirty more minutes to go to Vegas. Arriving Las Vegas - Sam Boyd Field (Home of the UNLV Rebels Football team) on A Final Approach to Runway 26R. The "to be former Oakland Raiders" will play the 2019 season here, awaiting the July 31, 2020 expected completion of their new domed stadium southwest of the Mandalay Bay, west of I-15. Final Approach to Runway 26R, over the busy S. Eastern Ave. & Patrick Ln., you can see the Stratosphere and city off to the right or North. Final Approach to Runway 26R Stratosphere and city off to the right or North. Final approach to Runway 26R Over the landing threshold. Aerial perspective of McCarran Airport from my Cessna 172 overflight early Saturday afternoon. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Frontier Flight 1993 - Seat 23F. Outside of LAS Terminal 3, 2nd level Level Door 44 - Waiting for the RTC (Westcliff Airport Express) RTC Bus. The WAX now goes to Terminal 3. Don't have to take the McCarran Shuttle to Terminal 1 anymore to catch the RTC buses. 4 P.M., The WAX Bus arrives on time. Purchased a $5 24-hour pass, that even worked for the Deuce Strip Bus. The 24-hour pass that includes the Strip buses cost $8. The bus driver could not sell the 3 day pass for $20. On the WAX and got off at MGM Tropicana stop, then caught first Strip bus north, which was a SDX bus (Strip-Downtown-Express) to Circus-Circus. My ground transportation costs during this Vegas Trip, including airport to airport. Being over age 60 qualified me for a reduced rate (1/2 price) rate for the 2 hour pass to get me to the airport. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Circus-Circus Skyrise Tower Room #3709 check-in - Circus-Circus was the best value I could find, a lot of walking to get the room, but conveniently located by McDonalds and the Strip bus stop in either direction -Window View of A/C Unit with a view of the top of the Stratosphere. Probably should have taken a room on a upper floor. Watched the first half of the game in the room up until the 45 minute rain delay, then left to meet the Plautz's at the Aria. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Aria Sports Book During the Packers - Bears Game. Davante Adams suffers possible serious neck injury in the 3rd quarter. Had a slice of pizza and Diet Coke before finding the well-known diehard Packer fans. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Aria Sports Book During the Packers - Bears Game. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Merrill people invade the Aria Sports Book during the Packers - Bears Game. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - Aria Sports Book During the Packers - Bears Game - Packers Won 35-14. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - City Center pedestrian walks after the Packers-Bear Game. From street level, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the elevated pedestrian walks at City Center. Wonder if there are future plans to install some escalators. Thursday, September 28, 2017 - City Center - Planet Hollywood. Former location of the Aladdin. Friday, September 29, 2017 - Monorail's arrival at the MGM at 12:10 P.M. Can see my mirrored reflection taking this photo with my Kindle tablet. Clark County may soon grant permission to the Las Vegas Monorail Company to expand its rail one mile south. If the company crosses the remaining hurdles to the project, the proposed route would place rail footings on Reno Ave., northside of McCarran and provide service to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Monorail View of the rear of the Venetian and Palazzo (former site of the "Sands") and the Wynn Golf Course. Monorail View of the rear of the Wynn and Encore. Wonder what Howard Hughes would think about what Steve Wynn did to his old back yard of the Desert Inn. Got on the Monorail at the MGM and got off at the Convention Center stop, the stop just before the "West Gate" formerly the "Las Vegas Hilton". Then took the RTC #109 Bus west to the Stratosphere stop. Had lunch at one of my favorite cheap fast-food places. Carl's Jr. at the Strip and E. St. Louis Ave. across from the Stratosphere. Quite the $5 bargain meal, double cheese burger, large fries, soda and
chocolate chip cookie. I had eaten here many times during my past numerous stays at the Stratosphere. It also is conveniently located on the Bus #109 stop, which takes you to Ground Zero at the Airport, which always had saved the airport shuttle van fares. After lunch walked across the street
to the Stratosphere stop and took the Deuce south to Circus-Circus for a nap. Back To Vegas Last Back To Vegas Itinerary Menu   Next To Vegas 2
